What Happens During Treatment with Rezūm?

In order to perform this procedure, your doctor will inject the water vapor (steam) into the targeted prostate tissue. Once injectied the steam destroys benign prostate cells and shrinks the prostate. And then–The simple procedure will take 2-6 weeks to take affect, but will continue to improve symptoms out to 12-16 weeks.

The Rezūm System is performed entirely within your provider’s office in approximately 5 minutes or less. This simple procedure will require a few days to take full effect, during which time patients will have a catheter in place to assist in urination until anticipated swelling subsides. Three days after your treatment is performed, you will return to Cascade Lakes Urology to have this catheter removed, and that’s it! Symptoms will continue to improve for months to come, though patients typically notice the greatest effect of the Rezūm System during the first two weeks after it is implemented.

This treatment is associated with only mild to moderate side effects, which generally consist of some discomfort soon after the procedure is performed. Of course, if you begin to notice any abnormal side effects or symptoms then you should contact Cascade Lakes Urology to have them fully evaluated as soon as possible.
